Chicago Mag has charted 2012 home costs in 73 city nabes and 200 'burbs. In looking at the city stats there aren't any great surprises, unless you weren't expecting quite so many areas with destroyed property values. The median detached house sale prices for nearly two dozen South and West Side 'hoods hovered in the low five-figures. Furthermore, prices are trending down—way down—in all but a few hard luck nabes. Meanwhile, Near North cleared $2M sales in its sleep. Even Lakeview's median hit seven-figures. The range in the town home and condo subcategory is much tighter, with median prices maxing out at $396K in Lincoln Park (sales activity for condos is more rigorous than for town homes). [Chicago Mag]
