The Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance (PDNA) has issues with DePaul's interest in South Loop arena building. The reasons are understandable: commenters at last night's community meeting were concerned with parking and congestion, and the fate of historic structures that may stand in the path of the Blue Demons. There were also questions about the snugness of the parcel in question, just north of McCormick Place near Cermak & Indiana. The arena would likely be "dead space" much of the time, and not necessarily an economic driver or community builder. "We're absolutely going to oppose it," remarked PDNA prez Tina Feldstein. Neighbors held the McPier hotel plan in a more favorable light. [Crain's, previously]
