Crain's is reporting that Cheap Trick is bowing out of Motor Row redevelopment plans. That's bound to cheapen the prospects for a new entertainment district, at least in the near future. On the chopping block are an inevitably hokey but development-stimulating night club, restaurant, and some manner of museum. The former Buick dealership at 2245 S Michigan was to host much of this themed stuff. Also gone is a proposed circus-cabaret dinner theater at the former Rambler dealership at 132 E. 23rd Street. That investor still claims interest in Motor Row, but will have to find a new address. Some of this derailment can be traced to a loss of faith in embattled developer Pam Gleichman.
