"I think all of these new 'luxury' buildings would be much more successful of they took some ques [sic] from the past. I'm not saying we should only build precast French-ish schlock, but add some dimension. The old NYC prewars have remained successful because of their character. The lower floors are all the same plate, but at the top they go crazy. Terraced setbacks and bay windows and views unobstructed by the balcony above or next to you. I wish we'd move past the flat roofs.
