Chicago's dorkily-named "Make Way For People" quality-of-life initiative is meant to promote "people spots, people streets, people alleys and people plazas" throughout the city. It's a new program, so ridicule and skepticism are normal symptoms. That is, until something grand happens like the seasonal closing of blocks to vehicular traffic. Chi Streetsblog's John Greenfield recently chatted with Andersonville Development Corp's (ADC) Brian Bonanno about ADC's interest in creating a pedestrian plaza intersecting Clark Street. Potential targets include Berwyn (pictured at right) and Olive, and things like parking displacement may tilt the scales one way or another. The moment is ripe for such an endeavor.
