CDOT has received $1M to build a bike/ped bridge linking the east and west legs of the North Shore channel trail near the intersection of Lincoln and Peterson. Previously, says the Welles Park Bulldog, bikers and walkers had to exit the trail at Lincoln, cross the roadway's bridge and descend back down to the continuation of the trail. This new direct crossing, paired with a planned $7.1M bridge and trail connection b/w Clark and California parks a couple miles south, will amount to a 9-mile stretch of rec trail from Belmont to Evanston's Green Bay Road with minimal interruption.
