Curbed Flickr pool contributor Gabriel X. Michael has made it his mission to photograph the city's recent branding of structurally unsound buildings using a bright red "X". The new directive is meant to warn first responders of the potential for building collapse upon arrival at a scene. A $647K budget has been allotted for the marking of roughly 2,000 buildings citywide. Michael adds some showmanship by rendering the buildings in black & white and "creatively distort[ing] its perception through isolated colorization of the emblems. [Gapers Block, Flickr/GXM]
