A new outpatient medical facility has formally broken ground in Lakeview between Barry and Nelson Streets, according to RE Journals. The 3-story, $109M facility will add 156,000 square feet of space devoted to ambulatory surgeries and cancer treatment as part of Advocate Illinois Masonic's Wellington "L"-adjacent campus. The frivolous design looks well-intentioned, anyway, like most modern hospital buildings. Materials and aesthetics of the north side of the building will be "representative of the residential community on neighboring Barry Street." That could be bad. The south side is what you see at right, curvy and swervy and light. [REJournals]
