Let's Get Presidential

A writer for the conservative Washington Times, in a "breathless, panicky editorial", elevated a far fetched rumor to gospel. The rumor: that the parking lot for President Obama's library will occupy the footprint of Ronald Reagan's childhood home, a multi-unit building at 832 E 57th cleared for demolition. U Chicago, meanwhile, intends the site to be a "green strip" beside a parking lot for the expanded medical center. In the off chance that the library comes to Hyde Park, it probably wouldn't have anything to do with this site. Reagan's old digs were denied landmark status because the building "does not have sufficient architectural significance" and "is not associated with Mr. Reagan during his active and productive years."
