Feeling the burn of playing perpetual second fiddle to the Sears Tower in number of visitors, the owner of the John Hancock Center's 94th-floor observatory is proposing a new attraction. Sears has the popular and profitable "Ledge", and so Hancock must have the "Tilt"— a structural glass protrusion that straps people in and tilts them forward toward the earth. Sounds like a blast, but city approval is needed and many may question this disruption in Hancock's pure form. For the moment, Sears continues to throttle Hancock in the tourism category.
