The readership was lucid as can be in dealing with yesterday's cornerspotter, with five correct guesses. The first participant mentioned evidence of a PCC Streetcar line with its overhead cable, which apparently plied only Madison on the Near West Side. That dead giveaway escaped us. And then there's the flatiron-topping "Calvert Whiskey" sign later replaced by "Turtle Wax" that one reader clearly remembers seeing. It's been decades since the intersection of Madison, Ogden, and Ashland looked anything like it did in the midcentury cornerspotter photo. Alas, we'll always have Paris.
