Curbed Cup Semis: (9) South Loop vs. (13) Chinatown

New, 4 comments

The Curbed Cup, Curbed Chicago's annual Neighborhood of the Year tournament, continues today with the first semifinal. The thriving contenders are presented below. Vote now, as the poll closes in 24 hours.

South Loop has already scored a better result in this year's Curbed Cup than in 2012. Chinatown is just thrilled to be in the conversation. And now these neighbors find themselves in a most unlikely (and likely unfair) standoff. Sloopers are wide awake at this stage in the game, and Chinatown will need a big turnout or some electioneering to counter all the tangible changes to the South Loop in 2013. Due west of all these happenings is an ever-thriving immigrant hub with its own vibrant economy, great eats, a cool riverfront park, and plans for the future.
