Curbed Cup Quarterfinals: (7) East Village vs. (2) Pilsen

New, 1 comment

The Curbed Cup, Curbed Chicago's annual Neighborhood of the Year tournament, continues today with the last quarterfinal showdown. The deserving (and oh-so-sexy!) candidates are presented below. This round's results will be reviewed on Friday and the poll is open for 24 hours, starting now!

East Village took a hammer to ultra-hyped Logan Square in the Curbed Cup's first round, and there's reason to think it'll do so again against Pilsen. The dainty nabe had a big dose of development per capita, with architectural marvel 1611 W Division, restoration of the historic Amber Building, and infill residential projects both completed and planned along Chicago Avenue. Pilsen, for its part, witnessed a greater concentration of food, drink, and nightlife on the 18th Street corridor thanks primarily to the redevelopment of Thalia Hall. Speculative residential projects are on the tips of tongues, but that's long been the case on the Lower West Side.
