Curbed Cup Quarterfinals: (16) Ukrainian Village vs. (9) South Loop

New, 8 comments

The Curbed Cup, Curbed Chicago's annual Neighborhood of the Year tournament, continues with the first quarterfinal showdown. The deserving (and oh-so-sexy!) candidates are presented below. This round's results will be reviewed on Friday but the poll is only open for 24 hours, starting now!

Ukrainian Village is already proving itself a sleeper in this year's Curbed Cup. We're thinking it was a combination of distaste for the West Loop and solidarity between UV, EV, Noble Square, and Wicker Park that led to the pocket nabe's round one upset. We'll see if the union holds now that it's up against a proven and well-oiled machine in South Loop, a land where 'slick' and 'luxury' are everyday words. It's far easier to tally South Loop's calendar year accomplishments, but growth (and especially disruptive growth) isn't always a good thing. Let the voting begin!
