A Hyatt hotel proposal for a spot in River North just north of Trump Tower made an enemy of Ald. Brendan Reilly and thus finds itself on the chopping block. Whether inadvertent or not, developers didn't directly consult Ald. Reilly who said also that a new 238-room hotel would create overcrowding in well-served River North and amounts to abuse of a 1974 ordinance that emphasizes residential construction in the area. And thus, the Chicago Plan Commission blocked the 18-story Hyatt House. [Crain's, previously]
