A development venture of Chicago-based Domus Group bought the Near North building that houses MK The Restaurant and a neighboring parcel for $3.1M last winter, and are on their way toward realizing plans for a 23-unit apartment building with 20 ground-floor garage parking spaces. Curbed ambled over to the site the other day, where steel framing is piling up. Whatever appearance the infill takes on, it erased one more surface lot and is bound to help enliven an area that goes dead after work hours. Our efforts to obtain renderings for the project produced nothing beyond one grainy black-and-white sketch of a six-story mod building obtained by Skyscraper Page's Spyguy. Hey, it might not be so mundane after all.
