The LaSalle banking district at the core of The Loop may welcome a sizable hotel conversion in the near term, reports Crain's. Directly beside the current office-to-hotel Hyatt project at 100 W Monroe and a potential redevelopment of the Roanoke Building at 11 S LaSalle is the latest plan by Kimpton Hotels for William Le Baron Jenney's landmark New York Life Building. The hotelier would bring 225 rooms and a restoration to the 1894 building. Experts disagree on the strength of the seven-day hotel market in the central Loop, where discounting may be required to suck tourists out of the Millennium Park orbit on weekends.
