Tribune archicritic Blair Kamin gave his requisite rundown of 2013's local architectural feats. Kamin is drawn to more than new buildings, delving into the rehab of landmarks and the rollout of bike share (which meets approval for its "distinctive pale blue bikes"). Jeanne Gang is in the mix for her graceful Clark Park boathouse, and U of C's early childhood learning center avoids being "relentlessly cute". Kamin also takes a detour to NYC to laud Fumihiko Maki's 4 World Trade Center, the "subtle, self-effacing high-rise" that goes down as Ground Zero's first office tower completion.
