Neighborhood of the Year Face-Offs Begin Today; Vote!

Before the dawn of 2014 we need to properly put 2013 to bed. Curbed's surefire method for doing so centers on the crowning of the year's top neighborhood— a community that excelled in adding people, drawing tourists, or otherwise bringing vibrancy to its streets. The reader-sumbitted nominees are in, and we've assigned seeds (loosely based on number of nominations and on which neighborhood pairings make for richer face-offs, but still relatively arbitrary). Now we're calling on readers again to vote your choices in each face-off in every round through to next week's final. We begin today with two first round pairings. Last year Avondale was the winner; Uptown took the crown in two prior years. The bracket has 16 competitors this year, and we hope it's fairly inclusive. Let those passions rise, but let's not get nasty. Onward to glory!
