It's not a big box but rather a transparent architectural box properly scaled for a high-rent shopping district. That's in reference to a rendering brought to light by development insider Spyguy on Skyscraper Page for the former Hunt Club site at 1100 N State. We can't confirm the origin of the drawing, but if it indeed represents Jim Lasky & David Pisor's latest iteration then retail has subsumed restaurant. There looks to be a restaurant component on the fourth floor and rooftop, with three stories of retail below (notice how the illustrated window stickers of elated fashionistas stop at the third floor and that the lighting changes above). Previously, the stated plan was for a three-story restaurant and nightclub. At the least, the new and expanded design will topple a pair of old Victorians (in addition to the Hunt Club building) on Maple just west of State. Another retail development is planned across the triangle, and condo and hotel plans are conspiring to blow up the district.
