Renovation Watch, Rogers Park

The Farcroft Apartments in Rogers Park, part of Col. Jennifer Pritzker's expansive portfolio, reopened to renters after a gut-reno of the 84-unit 1928 building by architect Charles W. Nicol. DNAinfo gets into Nicol's reputation as a designer influenced by "magical" inclinations. For instance, the original pre-reno units and facade had no right angles to "better support the flow of mystical energy" and the building flaunts its 13 floors in the face of that well-worn superstition. The Farcroft will be served by Pritzker's controversial "car tower", now being built around the corner on Sheridan. [DNAinfo, official, previously]
