A long-awaited Clybourn Corridor hotel, to be sited at Weed & Fremont just south of North Ave, has a construction loan and a timeline, writes Crain's. Eric Nordness' Saltia Development, a force in restaurant concepts, will likely start work on the 156-unit "select-service hotel" in late spring with a summer 2015 opening. Basic sketches and specs released in July, if still applicable, show a clunker of a building born to court a "major brand". There aren't any competing hotels in this district, so there can't be much design pressure either. And are there enough hardcore shoppers willing to park heads in the corridor? [Crains, previously]
