Smithfield Properties' 35-story apartment project at Chicago & LaSalle is entering the foundation stage, evidenced by some YoChicago snapshots. Skyscraper Page's Marothisu detected a city permit issued Friday for foundation work, so the 295-unit building is rapidly approaching realization. The plan faced only slight opposition on its way to approval, and is laudable for its low parking ratio (.39 spaces/unit) and "adoption" of neighboring Bush Temple of Music. The glass building will be mostly studios and one-beds and is the design of Berkelhamer Architects. Stay tuned! [YoChicago, previously, previously]
