A three-story building at 2001 S State and a one-story space at 2000 S Wabash will receive residential transformations, reports Crain's. Windy City RE paid $3.3M for the crotchety commercial buildings, and has a loan to finance the conversions. Ground-floor commercial space will be preserved, but likely not for the auto trades currently occupying the buildings. 2001 S State will accommodate 22 rental units and 14,500 square feet of retail, and 2000 S Wabash three units and 6,000 square feet of retail. The buildings back up to each other except for the gash of Green Line tracks— the same tracks sparking such development with the pending Cermak-McCormick Place Station. [Crain's, previously]
