An EPA grant is being bestowed on the Finkl Steel site b/w Clybourn and the North Branch to fund a study on the reinvigoration of the North Branch Works industrial corridor. The $200K grant encourages exploration of ways to keep industry humming on a site facing various external development pressures, from Lincoln Park's real estate market and the city's changeable redevelopment ideals. The 28-acre site spans two Planned Manufacturing Districts, so somewhere along the line the city also had interest in preserving this industrial base.
