Google's anchoring of the 1K Fulton office development is a fine thing, building on West Loop transit investments and a general westward migration of retail and residences. But, says at least one urban planning doctoral student, the city is off base in spinning the relocation as mass transit-motivated. Sharing the results of her transit analysis with Atlantic Cities, Lauren Ames Fischer shows better transit reach and commute times at Google's River North offices and offers that highway proximity was the bigger driver.
