The Catalyst Hits Max Height at Des Plaines & Washington

New, 2 comments

The 223-unit Catalyst apartment tower is topping out in West Loop Gate. The tower crane has stacked 19 stories and a clear, un-tinted glass is sheathing the structure from the ground up. With Brininstool + Lynch's toned-down rendition (revisit Lucien Lagrange's color bursts), the building is destined to blend into the scenery. The up-close experience may retain above-average rewards, thanks to the elegant cluster of balconies, minimized podium, and high-quality materials. We're beginning to see evidence of that, though the Walgreens store signed to the retail space may jeopardize these small joys. Marquette Companies' development is slated to open mid-2014. Look for Curbed to wrap things up then.
