The momentous Navy Pier redevelopment effort has officially begun, as this photo from Skyscraper Page's Hayward attests to. The $150M project, engineered by James Corner Field Operations, nArchitects, and Gensler, will be phased into existence over the next 18 months. A second major round may follow, pending adequate funding streams. Most of the Pier's attractions remain open (some shifted around) as demolition work begins on old retail and food court spaces.
