It's not every day that a neighborhood scores 22 acres of new park, but that's what's in the pipeline for LIttle Village. Final renderings for Celotex Park were released this week, tailored to resident requests for more soccer and basketball and less baseball. The park will be built where the Celotex asphalt factory once stood, a Superfund site. The irregularly-shaped park will cram in a playground, skate park, sledding hill, jogging trails, and a possible field house in addition to two basketball courts, two soccer fields, and one baseball diamond when it opens next fall.
