A momentous event in the haphazard redevelopment of old Cabrini-Green lands is set to happen tomorrow with the grand opening of the Target supercenter at Division & Larrabee. Construction began a year ago, and as you'll recall negotiations with the CHA resulted in a land swap where Target scored the plot most favorable to them and bought another plot to the north, at Larrabee and Clybourn, on behalf of the CHA for the agency's future use. The 150,000-square-foot eyesore does bring budget shopping and groceries to the immediate neighborhood, and it might actually be an aesthetic upgrade over the razed William Green Homes.
