This just in: According to Friday's Reilly Reports newsletter, from the office of Ald. Brendan Reilly, construction is scheduled to begin this fall on the Chicago Riverwalk extension. The planned six-block stretch of widened, connected, and landscaped riverwalk is at least 10 years in the making but really hit the jets in March when the project secured a $100M federal loan. The extension's design will be characterized by themed subsections expressing the public's varied interactions with its second waterfront and promoting year-round use. [Reilly Reports, previously]
