The Tribune's editorial page editor Bruce Dold has issued a plea with Chicagoans to summon the essence of Daniel Burnham's momentous 'Plan of Chicago' and follow through on solving "urban" problems that threaten livability and economic sustainability. Dold lists what he believes to be the "hydra-headed" challenge the city faces, mostly rooted in money, education, and a widespread job mismatch. There's little agreement on how to address these intractable problems, or even where to assign their symptoms. And so, The Trib will hatch a new editorial series this week and call on proposals from readers. [Trib]
