Sketches for a low-rise modernist addition to the Cabrini-Green area surfaced earlier this month and, per usual, Skyscraper Page's Spyguy was at the ready. The infill proposal of Quest Realty and Studio Dwell Architects is for 27 one-bed/one-bath apartments and 2,000 square feet of retail. A summary of the zoning amendment request (seeking B2-3 mixed-use) states all but six units would be market rate and that there will be 23 ground floor garage spaces and "ample bicycle storage". Retail space would fill the building's sharpest point at the corner of Larrabee and Crosby and resident amenities are to include a rooftop deck. The design shakes things up a bit given the red brick sprawl of neighboring Parkside and the terrifically huge Montgomery Ward loft buildings to the south. The project is targeting a May 2014 construction start with completion 12 months later.
