Hospitality Watch: Thompson Chicago Opens

New, 3 comments

The upmarket Thompson Chicago opens today in the Gold Coast where the Sutton Place Hotel once reigned. The switcheroo has 247 new rooms (rates from the mid-200s, rapidly ascending) and common spaces conceived by designer Tara Bernerd with a "strong emphasis on texture and bold color," reads the press release. The list of furnishings and amenities is long and luxurious but the big draw for tourists and locals will be Nico Osteria, the latest Paul Kahan restaurant (Publican, Big Star, Violet Hour). The Italian seafood joint is slated to open in December. [Thompson Chicago, Eater Chicago]
