Development Update, Evanston Edition

It's clear sailing for the 368-unit, two-building apartment proposal at Emerson & Oak. Evanston City Council approved the modified plan on Monday that saw an earlier approval for side-by-side condo and rental towers reworked and refinanced as a exclusively rental. Adjustments were also made to building heights (shortened) and parking (oriented in a conjoined podium). One nagging issue is whether or not Emerson should be widened from two to four lanes to accommodate a big uptick in vehicle trips. It's a major bike/pedestrian route between downtown Evanston and the Northwestern campus, and so potential traffic hazards aren't being taken lightly. Ready to join Chicago, Evanston?
