West Loop NIMBYs are at it again. According to Crain's, the West Loop Community Organization (WLCO) is crying foul over developer Sy Taxman's decision to scrap a proposed hotel in favor of a 22-story rental tower. The local community group would prefer something in the range of 12 stories be built on the site: "We would not approve that height," Martha Goldstein, WLCO's executive director, told Crain's. Planned for the northeast corner of Madison and Green, the high-rise would house 200 rental units and 140 parking spaces. Taxman had originally wanted to build a similarly-sized hotel on the property (also the city's desire), but was unable to find the right company for the venture. More to come! [Crain's, previously]
