The City is making its case for Bus Rapid Transit along Ashland and Western Aves, from the Far North to Far South Sides. While there are four design options in play, each with a $300M price tag, only two would preserve current levels of street parking. The other two could see parking cut by more than half. As local businesses see it, that's a threat worth rallying against. At a presentation last week dozens of business owners turned up the pressure for something other than full BRT, and they may have allies in Ald. Jason Ervin (28th) and Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd) who voiced reservations about the scope of the designs. Should full BRT be implemented on both avenues, or should the CTA put its money elsewhere?
