Six Whale-Worthy Swimming Pools in the City and Beyond

In honor of Curbed's first-ever Whale Week, we've assembled a list of some the swankiest pools the metro area has to offer. Enjoy!

The Place: 300 Birch St
The Price: $9.4M
The Skinny: Walled-in by a thicket of dense foliage, this French Regency estate spreads out over 1.45 acres in Winnetka. Its 11,000-square foot interiors are replete with elegant formal rooms. Take the spacious master, graced by ornate moldings and painted ceilings. Another obvious stand-out: the indoor basketball court. The 21-room manse--built for a "noted Chicago Baron"--also throws in an outdoor pool with its own hot tub and cabanas.

The Place: 28 Brinker Rd
The Price: $6.2M
The Skinny: Set on a serene seven acres in Barrington Hills, this 5-bed home's lakefront setting should be enough to raise any high-end buyer's pulse. The 10,000-square foot manse kicks things off with an airy, cathedral-style living room. There's also a solarium and tons of outdoor space. And what self-respecting whale wouldn't be wooed by the infinity pool with a lake overlook?

The Place: 12413 Hobart St
The Price: $5.5M
The Skinny: Prefer to do your swimming indoors? Then this 4/5 new-build in Palos Park should be just what the doctor ordered. The home's 8,000-square feet of "unabashed perfection" encompass an large indoor pool framed by soaring cathedral ceilings and a full-height window wall. Other highlights include: a dramatic two-story foyer, wine cellar, and a screened patio.

The Place: 4 Hunt Club Ln
The Price: $4.5M
The Skinny: Clocking in at 13,000-square feet, this Oak Brook colonial is the roomiest home on our list. Its drab interiors could definitely use some sprucing up. But what the 5/6 manse lacks in style it makes up for with a six-acre spread that delivers an outdoor dining pavilion, lighted tennis court, cabana, and a brand spankin' new in-ground pool.

The Place: 1837 N Winchester
The Price: $3.995M
The Skinny: This isn't the first or even second time we've visited this over-sized contempo in Bucktown. But we're back again because the rooftop pool and hot tub deserve special mention. The 6/5 home, which hasn't moved despite a $400K reduction, also comes equipped with tons of floor-to-ceiling windows, an exercise room, and a dramatic two-story atrium.

The Place: 643 W Arlington Pl
The Price: $3.9M
The Skinny: Another one of our regular haunts, we've returned yet again to this ultra-mod Lincoln Park manse. A vintage facade is all that remains of the 1912 home, which was demolished and replaced with a slick, steel and glass structure. The 8,500-square foot home is surrounded by ample green space and a large terrace. And it also adds to its repertoire one of the dopest indoor lap pools we've ever laid eyes on.
