"For some reason, Chicago has done a better job at preserving (and even growing & boosting) the streetwalls of of its major east-west or north-south running streets than its 6 way intersections. The only explanation for that is that the major chain stores or fast food restaurants (gas stations, McDonald's) long ago coveted these locations and bought them out to put up their soulless, city-hating businesses. Chicago finally has begun to preserve the 6 way interesections that remain, but unfortunately too many have been lost." —Tupper [CornerSpotted: Milwaukee & Chicago, No Longer Built Like Rome]
