Regular patrons of the Roosevelt station may have noticed that work has been underway to modify an auxiliary exit on the south side of Roosevelt to provide passengers with an additional entryway to the elevated platform. The aim of the $650K project is to cut down on the widespread jaywalking (gasp!) across a perilous stretch of Roosevelt by patrons exiting eastbound buses who are transferring to the main entrance across the street. In addition to allowing for a smoother transfer, the new entrance will feature high-barrier gate turnstiles, new lighting, and new signage. Construction is expected to wrap by the end of the year.
