TLC For Near South Side

New, 2 comments

Near South Side residents have reason to smile. According to the Sun-Times, the increasingly popular hood is in line for $65 million in improvements. A number of transit upgrades are on the way, including $25 million in repairs to Orange Line tracks between Clark and State, along with a $10 million overhaul of the Harrison Red Line subway station. Other projects announced at today's press conference include: a new Chinatown Branch Library, streetscape enhancements on Michigan Ave between 23rd and 24th streets, and a rehab of the Chicago Women's Park and Gardens Field House, among others. The ambitious array of projects will be paid for with TIF funds. [Sun-Times]
