Groundbreakings

Construction of a new home for the social service agency Sarah's Circle is underway in Uptown. The 14,000-square-foot modern facility was made possible by the pro bono work of architect Perkins + Will and law firm Mayer Brown. Summit Design + Build is the project manager and builder. The project is an flashy mix of adaptation and new build, with new interiors conforming to an older main structure and additions surrounding it. Sarah's Circle provides supportive housing services to vulnerable women, and their new building will provide 10 private studios, each with a full kitchen and bathroom, as temporary residences. The remainder of the space is devoted to offices, workrooms, and common facilities. Completion is scheduled for June 2013. [Re Journals]
