Mindboggling Reveals

A lot of fantasy comes through the doors of the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF). It's meant to. With their ongoing exhibit Unseen City: Designs for a Future Chicago, CAF pulled together exploratory student designs from four local institutions. Of greatest interest to the built environment are several high-rise designs calibrated to fit within a Chicago DeCarbonization Plan laid out by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. The most eye popping proposal has to be the re-envisioning of the unbuilt CO2ngress Gateway Towers as a connected split-tower design that straddles Congress Parkway as it enters downtown. The green vision will reduce air pollution from the Eisenhower through a system of filtration, generating power in turn for the towers' residents. See for yourself. [CAF]
