Playful New Builds

New, 1 comment

Dennis Rodkin took a little time in today's Deal Estate column to explore the quizzical facades of a couple North Side new-builds. First there's the Erie Street home, third in a series, which boasts an E-shaped window pattern. The other alphabetic members, by builder DenMax, are homes with I and L-shaped windows. Next, Rodkin steers us to a facade endowed with even more impressive tomfoolery. This one has five large fish draped down its front, although you don't really notice them if there's interference from sun or shade. Says the builder/architect: "My whole philosophy is that the building shouldn't take itself too seriously." Is it a selling point, then? "I don't mention it unless they ask about it." Awesome.
