West suburban Maywood has as mucky a reputation as the banks of the Des Plaines. But set the municipal corruption aside and what you've got is a very diverse representation of late-19th and early-20th century residential architecture. Prairie Style figures prominently in the works showcased with much bravado in a fifteen minute video tour, picked up by Lee Bey of WBEZ. You'll have to excuse the triumphant soundtrack (we're surprised the Maywood Historic Preservation Commission has the budget for John Williams), small towns get pretty giddy over such tourist bait. But by all means, enjoy the interlude! There are some real forgotten gems to behold. [WBEZ]
