At least one of the key short term goals of the Union Station master plan will be fulfilled. Mayor Rahm Emanuel has a plan to turn a surface lot south of Jackson b/w Canal and Clinton into a BRT hub. The bus terminal will cost about $14.2M including the land purchase, with the feds picking up 80% of the tab. The location will allow for underground connection to the Union Station concourse, and no doubt make for some joyous intermodal experiences. The focus on a bus terminal comes as no surprise given Rahm's passion for BRT. The plan is before Council but has no timestamp that we know of. [Trib, previously]
