3-bed Playboy Condo Nets A Buyer 29 Months After Listing

When we wrote up this first-floor Playboy Mansion condo waaayyyy back in October 2010, it had already been on the market six months and had incurred a $150K price chop, bringing the then-ask to $2.75M. We closed our piece by wondering aloud how much the price would have to reduce to attract a buyer? The answer: another $300K. Not bad considering the 23 months of additional languishing the seller had to endure. And after all, despite the celebrity-inflation at hand, the unit does offer 3,900 square feet with three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, study, fireplaces, private patio, common gardens, and a medley of aristocratic turn-of-the-century touches. The building has had quite a saga since playing host to Hugh Hefner's legendary parties from the 50s through the 70s. It operated as a dorm for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for the next twenty years, converting to condos in the late-90s. This unit, one of seven, first sold for $1M in 1999. Those were the days, huh?
