CTA Gets Down To Business At Clark/Division

New, 3 comments

Work begins today on the overhaul of the busy Clark/Division Red Line stop. The $50.6M renovation is first of its kind for the 70-year old station. One of the more ambitious elements of the project is a new entrance/exit on LaSalle and Division, complete with its own 8,000-square foot mezzanine, set to open in September 2014. Beginning immediately, a half block of Division between LaSalle and an alley will be closed for a year. Clark and LaSalle will remain open to traffic. Once complete, the new station will be able to handle 10-car trains. It will also feature two new elevators, three new escalators, energy-efficient lighting, bike ramps and racks, updated security equipment, and cast-iron street-level entrances. Construction is expected to wrap in 2015. [Trib, Rendering: LaSalle mezzanine]
