Advocate Health Care has plans to build two new hospitals, one in suburban Oak Lawn, and the other in the north side neighborhood of Lakeview. The more ambitious of the pair is a nine-story patient tower at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, with a price tag of $346 million. As for Lakeview, Advocate is proposing a three-story $109 million Center for Advanced Care. The 140,000-square foot facility is planned for a large surface lot between Barry and Nelson at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The patient tower in Oak Lawn, which has drawn community opposition over increased traffic concerns, could be completed by October 2016. In Lakeview, the timetable is a bit more near term. Construction could begin in early 2013 and last until 2015.
