21st-Floor Palmolive 'Pied-à-Terre' Asks $1.9M Or $950/sf

New, 2 comments

So this is what constitutes a deal in the Palmolive Building, eh? Nearly $2 million for what the broker qualifies as a pied-à-terre. There's some sense to that notion, considering the folks who may struggle to scrape together this kind of money would probably want something much larger for a primary residence. Registering roughly 2,000 square feet with one bedroom and one-and-a-half baths, it is lacking family dimensions. Known as one of the city's priciest vintage buildings, the 1929 art deco Palmolive is, for the moment, home to Vince Vaughn (he's got the triplex penthouse... probably a little out of your range, no offense). And we're sure other celebs and local luminaries call it home. So you're paying for provisional membership in the stratospheric social rank as much as the high floor and killer views. To be clear, the unit ain't shabby. It's high ceilings, oak floors, and paneled den and kitchen produce a polished product. And, there's a built-in sound system. The blistering views take in the full sweep of Oak Street beach and the Gold Coast. Whaddya say, Mr. and Mrs. moneybags?
